The Cumberland Historical Society is preparing a Pictorial History of Cumberland Township to be published in August or September and needs photographs of the western part of the township. These are exerpts from a two hour interview with Michael Power in 2002 about his memories of the sixties in Queenswood Heights. Michael’s parents lived on Duford Drive in Queenswood Heights and were one of the first homeowners. Both Ron and Helen Power are deceased. The Queenswood Community Association Historians have interviewed the Powers before they died.

At Petrie Island, the Ottawa River is 1�1.5 km wide, looking more like a long lake than a river. Large wetlands on both banks of the river at this point make the river basin look larger and wilder, belying its closeness to a large urban centre. An article by Al Tweddle and Paul Lefort
