The former firehall and police station on Tompkins Ave. near Bourcier Ave. has become plastered with graffiti over the winter, triggering fears as a potential site for summer nuisance. The prime piece of real estate has been vacant for three years.

As the snow disappears, more cars can be seen in the parking lot and along the roadway to Petrie Island Park. Quite a few benches were left out over the winter, offering just the spot for a rest after a brisk walk along the beach. The winter fish huts are gone and it is time to start thinking of spring and summer picnics at the beach.
