The Friends of the Ottawa Public Library Association ( FOPLA) has two success stories in Orléans. The Cumberland Branch of the OPL bookstore raised $17,000 in revenue from donated books in the year 2005 and the Orleans Branch bookstore and sale has raised $3,000 in just two months of operation. Ninety percent of the revenue generated goes directly into the programs and services in these Branches. This means residents can recycle books to the two branches in the Orléans area and see them raise new revenue for programs , and materials not part of the regular municipal budget while providing affordable books to be reused in the community. The remaining 10 percent goes to the support of the other Ottawa Public Libraries.
