Easy Access to municipal services - 580-2400

Come January 1, 2001, the citizens of the new City of Ottawa will be able to access a wide range of municipal services by dialing a single telephone number: 580-2400. Residents looking for information on snow removal, marriage licences, water quality, pesticides, rink flooding, garbage pick-up, City Council agendas, noise by-laws, pedestrian crossings, cycling paths and much more, will simply need to pick up the telephone and call 580-2400.

It's all part of an innovative plan to create a citizen-friendly new City. The bulk of municipal services will be one phone call away and accessible through a one-stop client service centre and the six satellite service centres. The Ottawa Client Service Centres will be located in the new City Hall building and the satellite service centres in the town halls of Cumberland, West Carleton, Rideau, Nepean, Osgoode and Kanata.

A key component of the new City is the delivery of e-services through kiosks, interactive voice recognition systems (IVR), web-enabled transactions, fax back systems, etc. These will be made available in secondary service centres within existing recreation and library facilities. With this approach, there are more ways for the public to access the information.
